Presidential election: Mélenchon and Glucksmann neck and neck, behind the National Rally and Édouard Philippe, according to a poll

 In a poll conducted by OpinionWay for the Journal du Dimanche , Raphaël Glucksmann receives, in almost all the scenarios tested, as many voting intentions as Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential election.

Aduel is taking shape on the left. While Raphaël Glucksmann held a rally with his supporters at the Docks d'Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) on June 13th, without officially declaring his candidacy, a poll published this Sunday shows him with strong momentum. Indeed, the MEP from Place Publique is neck and neck with Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the three scenarios tested by the Opinionway institute for Le Journal du Dimanche for the first round of the presidential election, which remains largely dominated by the National Rally, with Édouard Philippe as the main challenger from the center-right .

Specifically, the candidate from La France Insoumise and the candidate from Place Publique each garner 13% of voting intentions, behind the National Rally candidate (33%) and Édouard Philippe (19%) assuming the latter is the sole candidate of the centrist bloc. When Gabriel Attal is considered the centrist bloc candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon receives 13% and Raphaël Glucksmann 14%, tied with the Secretary General of Renaissance. The National Rally remains in the lead, far ahead (35%).

A tie in the third scenario

In a third scenario tested by Opinionway, the leader of La France Insoumise and the former Socialist Party-Place Publique candidate for the European elections also received the same score (16%), with Édouard Philippe (19%) as the centrist candidate, but without the candidacies of the communist Fabien Roussel or the Green Party candidate Marine Tondelier. The National Rally (RN) still dominated the first round (34%) . Three weeks before the Paris Court of Appeal's decision in the case concerning the RN's European parliamentary assistants, Opinionway opted to test an "RN candidate," indifferently Marine Le Pen or Jordan Bardella.

This survey was conducted on June 10 and 11 via an online self-administered questionnaire with a sample of 901 registered voters, drawn from a representative sample of 1,001 French people aged 18 and over (quota sampling method). The margin of error is 1.4 to 3.3 percentage points.
